Understanding stocks, bonds and mutual funds - Crafting your own financial plan - Saving for the kids and for higher education - Planning for retirement, including the tax law changes that might affect you in the years to come - Where to go for reliable investment information. Read lessons, participate in exercises, and hold live interactive discussions with your instructor and fellow students in your on-line classroom. Runs for 6 weeks and is self-paced. Week One 
Tuesday, Lesson 1
Attitude and money ~ A look at how women typically fare in the world of money. Assess your attitude toward money and confidence level in handling financial matters.

Friday, Lesson 2
Money flows; money goes ~ Understanding your financial position comes from knowing where the money goes each week. Know the difference between a want and a need. 

 

Week Two
Tuesday, Lesson 3
Managing credit cards and debt ~ Creeping debt and interest payments can sabotage even the most careful woman. We'll examine some simple strategies for helping you get out . . . and stay out of debt. 


Friday, Lesson 4
Crafting your financial roadmap ~ Financial planning comes from understanding your financial goals. In this lesson you'll craft your own long-term financial plan. 

 

Week Three
Tuesday, Lesson 5
The magic of Compounding ~ It has been said that those who don't understand compound interest, pay it . . . those that do, collect it.  Learn about different financial instruments to grow money.

Friday, Lesson 6
A beginner?s guide to investing in the stock market?We?ll discuss what a stock is and how to select a good stock, using important financial ratios

 

Week Four  
Tuesday, Lesson 7
Investing in mutual funds ~ Understand what mutual funds are and how to select a good mutual fund to fit your needs. 


Friday, Lesson 8
Planning for retirement ~ Lots of vocabulary, such as 401k, 403b, individual retirement accounts (IRAs), and ROTH IRAs, and we'll discuss what they can do for you.

 

Week Five  
Tuesday, Lesson 9
Money and marriage ~ Find out how you can be a better life partner by understanding your spouse?s attitude toward money. And if you're faced with a family disruption, how to divorce your spouse, not your money.

Friday, Lesson 10
Money and the kids ~ Learn ways to teach your children good money habits to last a lifetime. We?ll discuss different ways you can finance your children?s education.

Week Six  
Tuesday, Lesson 11
Widowhood and financial matters ~ In this section, we?ll look at what you should be doing to prepare for the death of a spouse. Wills and trusts, as well as annuities and life insurance.


Friday, Lesson 12
Continuing your financial journey ~ We'll go over investment clubs and how they serve to further your investment education, and lastly, choosing a financial planner.
