Tuesday, Lesson 1
What's all the fuss about? ~ In lesson one, we are going to examine what Web-Based Training is, how we got here, how it stacks up, the current state of the art, and look at the future of WBT.


Friday, Lesson 2
Migrating from classroom to the Internet
~ In this lesson, we explore the differences between classroom and distance learning and how to integrate WBT in your existing class.


Week Two
Tuesday, Lesson 3
Dealing with "techno phobia" ~ The urban myth exists that you must have a PhD in computer science to build WBT. In this lesson, we will start the de-mystification process by mastering HTML.


Friday, Lesson 4
LMS, CMS? I'm confused
~ We are going to clear up the mystery and have your first classroom up and running at the conclusion of this lesson.

 

Week Three
Tuesday, Lesson 5
Content Management System
~ A simple class can be created on a word processor, but for most applications you'll do better with some additional software. In this lesson, we look at the various courseware options available.


Friday, Lesson 6
Writing content for E-Learning
~ We are going to look into the components of effective instructional design, how to write to the audience, and how to decide on the tone of your conversation with your students.

 

Week Four  
Tuesday, Lesson 7
Design Considerations ~ In this lesson, we'll examine the organizational structure of the class; examining navigational strategies and visual elements of classroom design.


Friday, Lesson 8
Making your class interesting
~ If all your class amounts to is reading text on a computer screen, you're in real trouble. In this lesson, we'll examine a variety of inexpensive tools that you can use to add graphics and interactive e-learning tools.

Week Five  
Tuesday, Lesson 9
Adding Streaming Multimedia
~ Audio, video and narrated slide presentations are not nearly as difficult or expensive to create as you might imagine. We are going to look at where multimedia fits and how to produce it -- without breaking the budget.


Friday, Lesson 10
Facilitating a class
~ Now comes the actual teaching. We are going to look at all the ways of getting involved with your students, synchronous vs. asynchronous discussion, chat rooms, bulletin boards, live conferencing and meetings. We will also discover where to find the freebies and how to get students to participate.


Week Six  
Tuesday, Lesson 11
Testing, grading and cheating ~ How to utilize the assessment process to enhance student learning.
Where to find free test writing software, how to write good interactive questions, as well as E-cheating and plagiarism.


Friday, Lesson 12
You can lead a horse to water ~ How to get buy-ins from your executives, middle managers, colleagues and, finally, from your target audience of students. What causes resistance and how to overcome it.
