Topics Include: Choice, not chance - Dealing with procrastination - Handling mind traffic - Life, family and balance - Effective day-planner use - Desk stress - Clutter - Understanding the difference between urgent and important tasks - Handling information overload - Putting out fires - Getting your house and family organized. Read lessons, participate in exercises, and hold live interactive discussions with instructor Gary Fugere and fellow students in your on-line classroom. Runs for 6 weeks and is self-paced. Week One 
Tuesday, Lesson 1
Life and family balance
~ First we'll look at your attitudes toward time. Then we will identify the "top ten" time wasters and the eight "black holes" of disorganization.

Friday, Lesson 2
Setting goals
~ We are going to examine the ten commandments of personal success and decide what is really important in your life.

 

Week Two
Tuesday, Lesson 3
Setting priorities
~ We're going to find the critical activities each day that account for a majority of your results.


Friday, Lesson 4
Using a personal organizer
~ In this lesson we'll look at how to find an organizer that really fits you.  Then we will learn tricks of effective use.

 

Week Three
Tuesday, Lesson 5
Dealing with procrastination
~ All the best time management tricks and tips will do you absolutely no good if you cannot deal with procrastination.


Friday, Lesson 6
Getting rid of desk stress
~ Studies show that if you are typical, you'll spend 42 minutes a day looking for things that are within arm's reach. It doesn't have to be that way. In this lesson we'll get it clean once and for all.

 

Week Four  
Tuesday, Lesson 7
Putting out the fires
~ Each day seems to bring a crisis. In this lesson we are going to look at how to deal with them and how to get things back to normal. Then, we'll look into the world of decision-making and creativity.


Friday, Lesson 8
Dealing with mind traffic
~ Getting rid of the silent interruptions that prevent you from really concentrating and producing your most creative ideas.

 

Week Five  
Tuesday, Lesson 9
Taming the paper monster
~ Studies show that you are handling three times as much paper as your counterpart did just 20 years ago. We will look at some ways to cope with all that information.

Friday, Lesson 10
Bringing it all home
~ So we get your business life under control, but what good is it if you come home to a houseful of clutter?  Learn the tricks and techniques of the pros in getting the house under control.

 

Week Six  
Tuesday, Lesson 11
Coping with Meetings and Appointments
~ Some of us spend as much as 1/3 of our day in appointments and meetings.  Learn how to reduce both the number and length.

Friday, Lesson 12
Memos for Managers
~ Whether you're in management or not, we all benefit from learning some effective management techniques.
